Customer Notes and Documents

Attach detailed notes and documents to customer profiles for comprehensive record-keeping.

Customer Notes

Navigate to CRM > Customer Notes or access from within a customer profile.

Creating a Note

  • Customer — Select the customer
  • Title — Brief note title
  • Content — Detailed text (supports Markdown)
  • Type — Category (General, Purchase, Complaint, Compliment)
  • Is Pinned — Pin important notes to the top
  • Created By — Automatically set to current user

Using Notes

  • Record preferences: "Prefers yellow gold, dislikes modern designs"
  • Document special requests: "Wants engraving: Forever Yours"
  • Track complaints and resolutions
  • Record gift purchase patterns
  • Note allergies (e.g., nickel allergy)

Customer Documents

Documents are attached via Spatie MediaLibrary:

Supported File Types

PDF, JPEG, PNG, Word (DOC, DOCX), Excel (XLS, XLSX)

Common Documents

Appraisal reports, insurance certificates, custom design sketches, purchase contracts, warranty cards, identity verification.

Best Practices

  1. Be descriptive — future readers need context
  2. Pin critical notes — allergies, VIP preferences, payment terms
  3. Scan physical documents — keep digital copies
  4. Review periodically — clean up outdated notes
