Setting Up a Printer

Printer Fields

  • Name — Printer identifier (e.g., "Office Label Printer", "Showcase Printer")
  • Type — Printer technology/protocol (Thermal, Inkjet, etc.)
  • Connection Details — How to connect:
    • IP Address (for network printers)
    • USB Port (for direct-connected printers)
    • Bluetooth address (for wireless printers)
  • Is Active — Enable/disable the printer
  • Default Template — Associate a default label template

Supported Printer Types

Aurelia Hub is designed to work with:

  • Thermal label printers — DYMO, Zebra, Brother (most common for jewelry labels)
  • Standard printers — For larger labels or documents
  • Network printers — Shared printers accessible via IP

Printer + Template Workflow

  1. Configure printer — Add the printer with connection details
  2. Create label template — Design the label layout with variables
  3. Create print job — Select product, template, and printer
  4. Print — Label is rendered with product data and sent to the printer

Multiple Printers

For stores with different labeling needs:

  • Showcase printer — Small labels for display cases (price tags)
  • Back office printer — Detailed labels with full product info
  • Shipping printer — Labels for outgoing shipments

Troubleshooting

Issue Solution
Printer not responding Check connection details and power
Labels printing blank Verify template has correct variables
Wrong label size Adjust template width/height to match physical labels
QR code not printing Ensure "Include QR Code" is enabled in template

Best Practices

  1. Test with sample prints — Always test a new template before batch printing
  2. Keep connections stable — Use wired connections for reliability
  3. Label stock — Keep spare label rolls/sheets on hand
  4. Regular maintenance — Clean thermal print heads periodically
  5. Name printers clearly — Staff should know which printer to select
