Stock Alerts

Last updated: 22. February 2026

Stock Alerts notify you when product inventory drops below configured thresholds, ensuring you never miss a reorder.

Accessing Stock Alerts

Navigate to Inventory > Stock Alerts.

How Stock Alerts Work

Stock alerts are polymorphic — they can be attached to Products, Metals, or Stones. When stock drops below the configured threshold, the alert becomes active.

Creating a Stock Alert

  • Item — Select the product, metal, or stone to monitor
  • Threshold — Minimum quantity before the alert triggers
  • Alert Type — The type of notification (e.g., low stock, out of stock)
  • Is Active — Enable/disable the alert
  • Notes — Additional context (e.g., "Order from supplier X")

Alert Behavior

By default, the system uses a threshold of 10 units for low stock detection (isLowStock() method). Products with quantity ≤ 0 are flagged as out of stock.

Viewing Active Alerts

The stock alerts list shows:

  • Item name and type
  • Current quantity vs. threshold
  • Alert status
  • Last triggered date

Dashboard Integration

Active stock alerts appear in:

  • The Inventory Dashboard — summary of all active alerts
  • The Product Stats Widget on the main Dashboard — counts of low stock and out of stock items

Best Practices

  1. Set alerts for high-value items — Don't run out of your best sellers
  2. Different thresholds per product — Fast-moving items need higher thresholds
  3. Review alerts daily — Check the Inventory Dashboard each morning
  4. Include supplier notes — Add reorder instructions in the alert notes
  5. Monitor seasonal items — Adjust thresholds before peak seasons
