Brands Management

Track and manage the brands and manufacturers whose products you carry in your jewelry store.

Accessing Brands

Navigate to Catalog > Brands in the sidebar.

Creating a Brand

Click "New Brand" and fill in:

  • Name — Brand name (e.g., "Cartier", "Tiffany & Co.", "Rolex", "Pandora")
  • Slug — URL-friendly identifier (auto-generated)
  • Description — Brand description or background
  • Website — Brand's official website URL
  • Logo — Upload the brand's logo (via Spatie MediaLibrary)
  • Is Active — Toggle to show/hide brand in selections

Using Brands

  • Every product can be linked to a brand via the brand_id field
  • Brands appear as filter options in the product list
  • Brand associations help with:
    • Inventory management — Track which brands you carry
    • Customer service — Quickly find products by brand
    • Reporting — Analyze sales performance by brand
    • Warranty tracking — Associate brand warranty policies

Brand in POS

When processing sales through the POS system, the product's brand is displayed alongside other product details, helping sales staff quickly identify and describe items to customers.

Best Practices

  1. Consistent naming — Use official brand names as they appear on products
  2. Add logos — Visual identification helps staff quickly spot brands
  3. Keep it current — Deactivate brands you no longer carry rather than deleting them (preserves historical data)
  4. Description — Include useful notes about brand positioning, target market, or special care instructions
